Well the title says it all, I'm looking for a good gaming PC that will last me a good 3-4 years, my old Acer Aspire 7540 isn't going to cut it anymore so I'm buying this. This laptop has a 2GB Nvidia Geforce GT 540M Graphics Card, 2nd Gen. Intel i7 Processor, 15.3" screen and 8GB of Ram. I'm telling you this because I somewhat respect your opinions (not the troll ones) and wanna know what you think. Here's a link to the complete PC specs: http://ecomm.dell.com/dellstore/basket.a...ails=false

Games I plan on playing with it: Batman Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Call of Duty 4, Assassins Creed Revelations, Call of Duty: MW3 (lol probably not), Battlefield 3, Need for Speed: The Run, Fallout 4 (When it comes out), Skyrim.
Well, TBH, if you wanna game, dump the laptop and go desktop. Gaming desktops are way cheaper because they don't have the space constraints.
I like the idea of having a Desktop built for gaming but I need something portable and this laptop packs quite a punch for a computer its size and price. A desktop would be good if I wanted to update my hardware later on but by the time the XPS becomes to weak to run the latest games I would just buy a new one :p.
a gaming laptop is an oxymoron, get a 50$ thinkpad for mobile shit and build a pc for gaymen

*edit* after googling it, it seems pretty underpowered for gaming, I mean, it only has a 1366x768 resolution for starters; and it seems to be geared more for business then gaming. For a laptop, that's saying something.
damn, you can't be serious.

Yea, in reality, gaming laptops aren't very practical. Sure you have the mobility but they don't have the space for the power. The extra GB for the video card memory isn't going to speed things up graphically...it's just like buying a workstation card that's $4000 and then you get angry because it can't play BF3 on Ultra settings. It's just unneeded. Honestly, you could build a really good desktop for the same price as this Dell Laptop you're looking into. Don't jump the gun and buy it or expect great things from it. If you want I can build you just about anything for any price range.
Well said Godj, So in any case going from 1GB to 2GB Graphics is just a massive waste of 100$?
At first I was going to get a laptop. Then I got some tips from these nice people on a so called "orcworm" server
Getting a desktop for a little over 1,000 dollars with monitor, mouse, keyboard (headset?)
Laptops are not ideal for gaming but it's nice to have something portable. I'm choosing to use my new desktop then when I'm going into college, just buy a cheap laptop for portability, not gaming.
Good jesus, the necros today
