Full Version: Is There a Weird Minecraft Glitch For Macs?

Ok I usually play Minecraft on my dad's pc. I recently asked my mom if I could download it for her Mac, she said she will have to think about it. I just want to know if there is any annoying glitch thing for a Mac I will have to deal with, and if there is how to fix it for a Mac.

This is the glitch thing I had for my dad's pc. When ever I launched Minecraft it would let me log in like normal then show a black screen forever. This took about a year to fix (never found the time to do it for about a year).

My friend has a Lynx and whenever he launches minecraft nothing happens, no login area, nothing. He has not yet fixed this.

I am not asking you to bash my mom's computer I just want to know if anything like that I might have to deal with for a Mac, and how to fix it.

Any mods installed at the same time? It's very possible you've done that.

I don't have any mods installed
On my old macbook pro the game runs without any really annoying glitches so you should be fine.

Have your friend tried to reinstall minecraft completely + java?
Minecraft runs fine on my shitty macbook air. For the most part, you shouldnt run into any problems with it on a mac. It also runs fine on my pc as does it with everyone here. It is probably a problem that has something to do with java, as freddy said. Just tell you friend/you to reinstall everything. Something may also be wrong with either your .minecraft folder or you .jar. And as krellyn said, even the slightest modification to your .minecraft can screw evertything up. Have you had any mods installed in the past? and by mod we mean anything that you stuck in your .minecraft that wasnt part of the original download.

Do you mean "Without any glitches at all" or "Just a few minor glitches"?
Well, in my experience with a MacBook Pro, I had no problems running Minecraft. I think you should be fine. However, if something does happen, try totally wiping Minecraft from your Mac. I believe you go into Finder, Application Support, find the minecraft folder and place it in the trash bin. Then open up the Minecraft client, force update it, and then your problem should be fixed.

Sorry for not clarifying. I meant that it runs fine with no crashes but sometimes the fps drop for a second. On my friend's newer macbook air, minecraft runs fine on fancy graphics and smooth lighting.

I didn't download a mod but I download a world. Well at least I have it fixed now that's what matters.

I already told my friend that…he didn't do that.
I'm the friend he's talking about.
I'm not going to bother fixing minecraft on my computer that runs linux because I'm getting a new computer soon. Plus, i have minecraft running fine on this shitty laptop that runs Windows XP but it's too laggy at times to even play on single player. Here's what I would do:
1)force update
2)Delete your minecraft.jar and start up the game again
3)re-download minecraft
4)re-download Java
If all else fails 5) bash ur mom's computer ^_^

Btw, why does it seem like you care so much if i get my computer fixed to run minecraft? If it means so much to you, I'll give it a shot at fixing it with the link you gave me.

Oh yea, forgot to put this when u posted that link above:
