He's honestly a complete idiot (QuantumFaith is the one i'm talking about), and yeah his music isn't that great i'll agree with that. But given the opportunity like this i'd guarantee it pushes him into making better music and growing as an artist. If i have anything to say, his hopes of going anywhere in life with anything else besides music....eh, pretty low. But if it takes motivation like this to get him moving, i could see something coming out of it. So if you guys would actually give him a quick vote, whether you like his music or not, it would actually mean a great deal and you'd be helping someone to an amount that can't be accounted for.

I knew this kid in High School, David Procoprio. He thought he was some big shot DJ. Of course, as is the norm with kids in High School, many questions are asked of him to validate his claims. He could never answer a single question.

I remember distinctly this one time in my Phys. Ed. class (it was also a Career Choice class) we had to make questions to do with the careers we thought we wished to pursue at the time. His question, "Who is the best DJ in the world?" Voided instantly.

The thing is, I recall in my Italian class he once answered the teacher saying he was going to move to Italy for a time to learn professional DJing. That still hasn't happened.

The point of all this is, DJs, Music Producers, Artists, Writers, they don't make it in the world they see right away. They need a backup plan. I recall last summer I was so sure that one day I would be a sound engineer (would change my program at CEGEP (CEGEP is college in Quebec) to accommodate it) and be happy. This didn't turn out to be the case. It's hard to be in the industry nowadays. So, I'm in Computer Science now.

That's just the thing: You need some sort of backup plan. You absolutely need bigger plans than the lazy, "I'm going to DJ and make money." You don't always get your way. You really, really don't.

So, tell your friend that if he plans to pursue this (and I still do believe anyone can, so long as they have the passion for it), he needs to study and be prepared for failure. I'm not saying he's going to be a failure, I'm saying he should be prepared for it: Have a backup plan.

Cheers.

Oh no doubt about it. Basically to sum up what you said: Shit's hard, and there's no easy way out. I just figured we'd try and help him out considering he's number 8 in the country on that list right now out of 600 or 700 people. Though this doesn't guarantee him anything, and the music industry is extremely hard to get big in (for most), it'd be a cool experience. Except, yeah he's an idiot and probably won't go that far in life with the record/track he has.
