So as i stated in a previous post, i was purchasing a camera and i finally got my Canon Rebel T3i.

I know some of you, Loly (i think?) and Chef, enjoy photography and such and it'd be really cool if i could get some opinions on some of the work I'll be posting on this website called CMV (Capture My Vermont).

Just noticed this post Sorry lol.

I like your work so far.

Birdhouses and Sunflowrs being by far the best.

YOu want to be careful with the birdhouses as you kind of lined them up in the middle of your frame.

Follow the 2/3's rule when possible - 2/3 above or below (horizon or obvious line) It's not always true but is a good rule of thumb.

Playing a bit more with your DoF (Depth of Field) would continue to provide some unique photos with the sunflowers.

Your apple orchard just does nothing for me. I realize its a silhouette but its boring. Basically a partially framed boring mountain. Some more vibrant colors in the sky or an odd shaped silhouette are always more fun IMO.

The rainbow patch is more in the right direction as opposed to the apple orchard. The sky offered a different and unique opportunity and balancing it with the silhouette helps bring it out. The problem is - it almost covers it / overshadows it.

The Ergets... Where are they? They are not the focal point and really have no sign of sticking out. I realize they are there but there is nothing internesting about this shot. This is where a nice telephoto lens letting you get close really shines. Most cases Wildlife need to be captured "closer" or atleast stand out better from their surroundings.

Your lake sun reflection is just overexposed (Obviously the sun) Here is where some filters for your lenses really help. Some polarizers or even going with skylight etc to alter the "sky" color. I'm not sure if it is just the haze that is in the air but the sky appears to be very bleak with a gold/brown hue to it. Doesn't stand out and pop. In this case a better shot may have been present if you waited a bit longer for a lower sun. Underexposed your shot a bit and hoped for some nice colors in the sky. Though I do like the way the top brach there is attempting to "Frame" the picture in a sense.

This is just all my feedback obv and take it with a grain of salt.

Curious what lenses are you using for each shot. Most will post that the picture was taken with - Up to you of course. But I would like to know what you used for each.

Best luck and enjoy your endeavors into photography.

Don't be afraid to get close and zoom in a bit. Everything does not have to be from a far ( though i realize limitations with the environment / lenses occur )

Just thought I would share a pic of two from my recent trip to the Smokies.

I realize it's huge going to the hosting site may provide a better view

This is Abrahams Falls - Great Smokey Mountains National Park

In this picture I didn't exactly go with the 2/3's rule but I wanted to get some contrast from the background against the almost silhouette.

Shot with a Canon EoS 5D Mark III + Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS USM @ 1/8000 of a second

Unfortunately I don't think he'll be responding unless he drops his chargeback.
He's banned, dude
