Books - thefluffyswan - 03-21-2012

Hey guys, I need some good books, and I want to hear what you guys read/are into.

As of now, I have been reading Stephen King, best one by him is The Stand in my opinion

So yea, just post your favorite books, why, who its by, what its about, genre, and anything else about it.

EX:
A Money Makers Guide
By: Any Jew
Genre: horror
It taught me how to be jewish and gave me information on how to blend in with their community
A book teaching you how to abuse penguins

And please do not mention Harry Potter or The Hunger Games

Some of the best books I've ever read are

It
The Hobbit
The Catcher in the Rye
uh....I can't remember what else Ill update later

Anything that's good/worth my time really.
I read Harry Potter in 3-4thish grade
LOTR i read until they threw the ring into the mountain then got tired and cound't get back into it when i tried re-reading
Historical books, it depends on who they were about
Californy way

And what is The Night Shift about

RE: Books - GoDjMike - 03-21-2012

I don't read too many books, but 'The Hobbit' is the best book in the LOTR series, if you haven't already read it.

We're reading it in class now, and I read that a year or 2 ago

Read your school text books, it would do you some good.

RE: Books - sieve - 03-21-2012

Steppenwolf
By: Herman Hesse
Genre: What can change the nature of a man?
I'm not usually sincere, but holy shit you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't read this book.

I have no mouth and I must scream
By Harlan Ellison
Short story that's probably the most fucked up thing I've ever read. Like I was physically ill after finishing it. Later got made into an adventure game that fleshes out a lot of the story but loses some of the directness

Anything by George Orwell
Anything by Ray Bradbury

The Hunger games (series)
By: Suzanne Collins
Genre: Science Fiction (Mostly)
I actually recently got into the Hunger Games series. I absolutely love them. Seriously...I could not put this damn thing down

For some reason I have the sudden urge to read that.

Hmm, Steppenwolf sounds interesting, i'll give it a go, how long is it?
And the I have no mouth story sounds weird, but now I want to read it, but by what you said, I am a bit nervous. I would have to check out Steppenwolf first

RE: Books - darkxephos - 03-21-2012

The Fire Within, Icefire, Fire Star, The Fire Eternal, Dark Fire, Fire World. In that order. They are bloody brilliant and It's one of few sets that I own all of, and they have got to be some of the best things I've ever spent money on. I've read all of them over 4-5 times.

P.S
Also, the next in the series is out April 5th, The Fire Ascending.
