EnderPearls Disabled - frostythetoejam - 01-16-2012
Hey guys, purple was about to use an enderpearl but then it came up with this.

I was just wondering why they were disabled. Is it because of all of those complaints?

But that's part of the game. Why can't people just accept that they have been raided instead of making a huge fuss over it? That was are factions main means of raiding. Now its gone because people can't learn how to protect themselves.

[/spoiler]Also, I can understand that people are being butt hurt when they get raided, however there are steps that make this process possible. If after one gets raided, they could attempt to figure out how they got raided and fix this in the future. If it is decided that enderpearls are not allowed, I would like some kind of compass like on the main server as I use enderpearls in other cases such as pvp, fast travel, climbing mountains, etc. If this isnt possible than I wouldn't mind the rule being tweaked so that if you used them to get inside a base you would get banned.

You could make a rule that 3 day temp bans anyone who complains about enderpearls so that they lean that it's part of the game.
It would be cool in chaos seeing people making protections against enderpearl raids, so eventually they'll become useless.
The chunk glitch will probably be interesting (if you're thinking about the same chunk glitch).
Someone's walking, then a person appears out of nowhere. Easy kill. It's all a person's fault, because he took risks with the enderpearl trick.
A person's like "what the...?!??! Illegal! Ban!" , but it's his fault and he can't do anything.
As long as they don't get confused with compass on the main server, they should be kept (at least in chaos)

There is almost no way to stop it, it gets rid of the fun of the chaos server when people just glitch into your house. For example, i have a huge hole under my base I made to stop ender pearls, then i /home and i find people chucking one ender pearl at the roof above them then while they are falling chuck another one, even if its part of the game it makes it boring, maybe you could find a way to log ender pearls or something, i mean i will make another base but they main factions of the server will raid it when i cannot raid it back in return as they out match me in stats/gear/items ect ect.

I agree completely with Blake. Again, jenius, we were not just chucking them at your roof. There are just few circumstances that allows you to get in. You don't just chuck one and BOOM!!! your in. Its just people have yet to find those special circumstances. I am telling you, there are multiple multiple ways to protect your base from it.

I still dont understand the logic to allowing it, i mean you dont allow the log in log out glitch so why not allow this? they are both notchs fault but equally they both should not get allowed.

Log in log out does seem like a glitch to me, but using enderpearls and nothing else doesn't because there a tons of ways to protect your base from it. Its sort of hard to protect your base from the log in log out glitch. I think enderpearls should stay legal because you are using an in-game item. The item was made to teleport you, not to sit in your hand and have no use.

It is a glitch as the ender pearl was not designed to teleport you through walls, new players cant defend them selves from a glitch they dont know about, most chaos servers have allready abnned it and most servers regard it as a bug.

1. We are not an "other server" we are orcworm.co.uk. Orcworm can make any rules that he feels are appropriate.
2. Are you just assuming that other servers ban for it and consider it a glitch or are you speaking from experience on other server?

1. Im not forcing anything on orcworm, im just saying other succesful servers have been using the disabler, like orc is now.
2.I did research after i found out abiut it, im still looking for a ender pearl bug list and havent found one yet as ender pearl is not a very well known item but maby succesful servers i found have banned it, for example i saw one admin saying "unfortuantly new players on this server are fucked as notch still hasnt fixed the ender pearl through surface glitch"

Also, frostythetoejam, you are assuming by saying "we" that you can talk for the whole of the Orcworm severs. Don't you think that Orcworm should have a say in this? Also just because Orcworm is different from other servers doesn't mean Orcworm can't take ideas from other more succesful servers, taking previous basic ideas and turning them into more succesful is a great way forward.
